Location: Syracuse/Rochester, NY

TextWise is seeking a creative and energetic research scientist to work on the semantic search and analytic solutions that help customers better find, analyze and understand their content. TextWise is a small company with a start-up atmosphere.  The team style is collaborative and high energy.  You will work daily with a team of scientists and interact with software engineers, quality assurance and product management.   

Responsibilities

• Design and perform evaluations of algorithms of search systems.
• Work on TextWise semantic technologies and improve search relevance.
• Design and implement machine learning algorithms to rank search results.
• Investigate and elaborate techniques for representing the semantic content of natural language texts.
• Perform corpus analysis for the discovery of linguistic and statistical patterns and features.
• Develop and maintain content databases for development and testing.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in computer science or related area, or equivalent experience.
• Skilled in statistical modeling algorithms in natural language processing and information retrieval.  Experience in language models and neural networks a plus.
• Machine learning techniques with experience in personalization and learning to rank a plus.
• Experience in developing and applying corpus-based methods in text analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong programing skills in Java, C/C++. Experience with MySQL, Lucene, Solr, Hadoop, map reduce, distributed computing is a plus.
