Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Job Description:
One postdoctoral position is immediately available for highly motivated individuals to work with Dr. Chunhua Weng in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University. Potential candidates should be familiar with machine learning (or) data mining (or) information retrieval. He or she will apply related methods in the above fields to process massive patient data in electronic health records (EHR) to model patient populations and then use these models to guide clinical trial designs and conduct. This position is funded by a multi-year NIH R01 grant (R01LM009886). The publications in the lab can be found at http://people.dbmi.columbia.edu/~chw7007/research_topics.html.
Requirements:
· Have a PhD in related fields (biomedical informatics, computer science/engineering, or information science)
· Have at least one first author papers written in English in previous area of research with accepted or published status in journals or conference proceedings
· Have good spoken and written communication skills
· Be able to visit New York City for interviews without a visa application. This is imperative.
