The Department of Library and Information Sciences (LIS) at the College of Information of the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure track position in information security and information systems at the rank of assistant professor.
Responsibilities: The candidate will teach, conduct research, and provide service in an academic tenure track position with emphasis on information technology, information security, and information systems. The candidate must demonstrate ability to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid modalities. The candidate is expected to teach core courses, within LIS and possibly cross-listed, with an emphasis in information security, assurance and/or privacy, coordinate students' practicum experiences and develop close relationships with practitioners and educators in these fields. The candidate should be willing to work closely with doctoral students and to serve on dissertation committees.
Qualifications: The minimum requirement for appointment is an earned doctorate in Information Science, Computer Science or other related fields at the time of appointment. The Department seeks candidates with expertise in two or more of the following areas: information security, information assurance, privacy, crisis management, information visualization, data mining, and information network technologies. Candidates will demonstrate evidence of effective teaching, research, and scholarship with experience/expertise in the broad area of Information Science.
Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of funded scholarly research, publication, and research productivity in the areas of information security, assurance and privacy.
Salary and benefits: Faculty appointments are for nine months with opportunities for summer teaching. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A choice of retirement plans and employer-funded health insurance is available.
