Post-doctoral researcher, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore


The Natural Language Processing group in the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore has two open positions for post-doctoral researchers in the areas of clinical natural language processing (NLP), ontology learning and text mining.

One position aims at developing new clinical NLP applications for electronic medical records (EMRs) of Singapore hospitals, dealing with such issues as syntactic/semantic parser adaptation for the Singaporean EMRs and semantic similarity measurement. It involves applying scientific, technical and software engineering skills to conduct research on natural language processing, ontology engineering, and/or clinical informatics.

The other position is funded by Rolls-Royce, and aims at developing novel methods for ontology learning, ontology-based text mining for speech recognition results, and semantic indexing and search and the development of prototypes demonstrating the successful application of the research. It involves applying scientific, technical and software engineering skills to conduct research on ontology engineering and text mining in collaboration with the speech recognition group at NTU.

/Required Qualifications/

A Ph. D. in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline with specialization in natural language processing, ontology engineering, and/or clinical informatics. Independent research experiences are expected.
