Open Position for Postdoctoral Researcher (Cross-Lingual Web Classification) at ISTI-CNR, Pisa, IT

The Human Language Technology group of the Institute for the Science and Technologies of Information of the Italian National Council of Research (ISTI-CNR) seeks a highly motivated individual to conduct both basic and applied research in the field of cross-language web classification, with specific emphasis on transfer learning / domain adaptation techniques.

The HLT group conducts both basic and applied research in areas at the interface of information retrieval, machine learning, and natural language engineering, with specific emphasis on tasks such as text classification, information extraction, and opinion mining.

The successful candidate will contribute to the groups' ongoing projects in the field of cross-language text classification and cross-language Web site classification.

A must:

* PhD in Computer Science or Computational Linguistics a must;
* Background in one or more of (i) information retrieval, (ii) supervised or semi-supervised
 machine learning, (iii) natural language engineering;
* solid programming and experimental skills;

A plus:

* competence in multilingual text processing.

ISTI-CNR is one of the premier research centers for computer science in Italy, and is located in beautiful and vibrant Pisa, in the heart of Tuscany.
