IUCEE-SPEED Student leadership workshop at Rajkot Aug 12 and 13

Below are details for third IUCEE-SPEED student workshop. The first one at Hyderabad on July 8 and  9 was a great success with 12 colleges and 70 students participating. The second one at Pune will be conducted tomorrow and the day after and has more than 60 students participating.

IUCEE has joined hands with SPEED, a global student organization to empower students to become a factor of change in Engineering Education by providing them with the skills, knowledge and resources necessary to become a global engineer and show them how they can think globally and act locally. The third SPEED-IUCEE Student Leadership Workshop is planned for August 12th and 13th  at R.K. University, Rajkot, Gujarat. The theme for the workshop is the same as the first two, has been decided as "Creativity and Innovation in Engineering Education". The theme is in accordance with the 2013 GSF (Global Student Forum) to be held in Cartagena, Columbia in September, 2013 and 2014 NISF (National Indian Student Forum) to be held in Hubli, India in January, 2014.

This workshop will help develop regional voice of students with respect to the topic, and helping them creating action plans which can be implemented locally, resulting in real time projects. The workshop duration is 2 days. The first day includes a ice breaking session, few group activities and introduction to the theme of the workshop. The second day starts with a presentation on the importance of action plan development followed by development of action plans by the participants by exploring the theme and involves presentation of the action plans by various groups to the peer of the colleges. The workshops are facilitated by 3 experienced SPEED members from across the country.

You are invited to send a team of 5 to 7 students from your college to this IUCEE-SPEED workshop. Participants can be from B.Tech 2nd and 3rd year and M.Tech 1st year.  SPEED requests that the student's participants attending the workshops display the following characteristics:
a)      leaders in local student organizations, socially motivated, communication inclined professional students with ambitions to change the world.

Participants will need to pay Rs. 500 for the food and accommodation provided by the host college. Participants are expected so spend the night at the student housing at RK University. Similar workshops will be conducted in different regions of India. Representatives from different regions will come together at the National Student Forum in January 2014. National representatives will then participate in Global Forum in Dubai in 2014
