=== Your Future Responsibilities ===
The prospective candidate will work in the context of patent information. His tasks will concentrate on the evaluation, adaption and application of tools and methods for information mining and information retrieval, including text mining, semantic search, and ontologies. Visual information will be of interest, too. He will develop prototypes for new functionalities and will devise concepts for their integration in the existing company platform.
The candidate will also have an eye on the relevant research area and the specific market to spot relevant innovations and trends at an early stage.
=== Your Qualifications ===
The ideal candidate holds a MSc level degree in computer science or information science and has a very good background in two or more of the following areas: information retrieval, semantic search, text mining, computer linguistics, ontologies. He has very good knowledge of software engineering and object oriented development, including good experience with Java and Eclipse. He is familiar with the design of user interfaces and visualisation methods for textual information. As an innovative and creative personality, he likes to work pragmatically in the context of applied research. To integrate in our team, he has excellent written and verbal command of German and English.
Our working time models enable an optimal balance between professional and family life (www.fiz-karlsruhe.de/jobs.html). Compensation is set according to the Wage Agreement for Public Service (TVöD). The initial employment contract is limited to a two-year period.
