BARKA Cloud technology has become ubiquitous for smart phone users and for large data applications in the past decade. The Computer Science Department of the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) will organise the 1st International Conference on Intelligent Cloud Computing 2014 (ICC 2014) in Oman. The conference will be held from 24-25 February at GUtech in Halban and is sponsored by Omantel and the Information Technology Authority (ITA).
"Increasing integration across multiple types of computing infrastructure and deployment of services across such infrastructure lead to significant design, development and management challenges. Cloud computing is a recent development, that started a few years ago. Nearly all our data is stored on different virtual so called clouds of software companies based in different countries around the world. However, there is a risk regarding the security of that large data storage," said Professor Dr. Rudolf Fleischer, Head of the Department of Computer Science (CS) and main organizer of the conference. The objective of the conference is to bring together researchers, practitioners and developers working with cloud systems and intelligent systems.
During the conference, a variety of intelligent mechanisms and techniques will be presented that may be used to develop advanced cloud systems, solutions and services that offer new fonctionalities. "Adding intelligent systems to cloud computing systems will make them more adaptive, flexible, and autonomous in resource management and service quality when running large-scale applications," said Prof. Dr. Nabil Sahli, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science at GUtech.
The first day of the conference will be keynote presentations and scientific contributions, while the second day will include tutorials on cloud computing. "Anyone interested in computing is welcome to attend the tutorials, they are free of charge", said Prof. Nabil.
