Funded PhD Opportunities at The University of Melbourne

PhD Opportunity In Information Retrieval Technology
The University of Melbourne/Microsoft

Devices and modes for expressing and interacting with information are
diversifying quickly, from PCs, tablets, smartphones to fitness bands, game
consoles, and other forms of naturalistic interfaces.  Within the University
of Melbourne and Microsoft's joint research centre (Microsoft Research Centre
for Social NUI, http://www.socialnui.unimelb.edu.au/) in this area we have
a new initiative to explore search and query formation technologies.

We are seeking two outstanding students to carry out a PhD in this area,
who will receive a stipend jointly provided by Microsoft and the University
of Melbourne. The successful applicants will have a background in computer
science and information retrieval, with demonstrated coding, analysis,
and mathematical & statistical skills.

For more information, including project details, application process,
and admission requirements, please contact Professor Justin Zobel,
jzobel@unimelb.edu.au, or Professor Alistair Moffat,
ammoffat@unimelb.edu.au.
