Job Research Assistant University of Hildesheim, Germany



The Stiftung Universität Hildesheim, Dept. for Information Science and Natural Language Processing offers a position as
Research Assistan (TV-L E 13, 100%)
for three years
to work on a research project on text mining in historical textbooks, a funded collaboration between the University of Hildesheim, the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research (GEI) and the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF), both GEI and DIPF are members of the Leibniz Association.
Starting date: 1. April 2014
We expect individuals who concurrently enroll in a PhD program in Information Science.
Job Requirements:
-A degree in Information Science or a related field (Master or comparable)
-Interest to engage in interdisciplinary research in digital Humanities to create text mining systems supporting historians
-Excellent knowledge of German and English
-Ability to work independently and to work in a small team environment, willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research work
-Programming skills (e.g. JAVA, C++, XML, GUI development)
-Knowledge in some of the following areas:
-Text Mining
-Analysis of information needs and behaviour
-Digital Humanities
-Information Retrieval
-Quality Management and Evaluation
-Usability Methods and Visualisation
