Responsibilities
As Senior Search Software Engineer, you’ll play a central role in the IR system that drives the Glassdoor website. You will work on areas such as document indexing, retrieval, and relevancy scoring. We’re looking for a developer with a strong background in both theoretical and applied information retrieval.

In this role you work with a small, collaborative team of engineers, QA, and product managers – so excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also a must. Skills and Requirements
- Deep understanding of the mathematical underpinnings of information retrieval
- Experience working on a production level, high-volume IR system such as a search engine, including vertical search
- Experience working with open source search software (Lucene/Solr), ideally using Java
- Bonus points if you have experience with any of the following areas: Experimental design, A/B testing, statistical analysis; Machine Learning (ML); Natural Language Processing (NLP); Big Data (Map-Reduce, Hadoop, Pig); Web crawling; Internationalization
