Research Engineer
We are the center of scientific excellence for Yahoo! based in Barcelona and are currently looking for a research engineer in partnership with Barcelona Media Innovation Centre.

We provide both fundamental and applied scientific leadership by publishing research and developing new technologies that power the products of the company.
About the position
We are looking for a research engineer who has a reputation for building cool things. Alongside our world-class scientists, you will be able to work on a variety of projects that involve rapid prototyping, proof-of-concept development, platforms for managing large amounts of data from web logs and social networks, and algorithm evaluation. Your work will result into the company's next-generation products.
Preferred Skills:
Master degree in Computer Science (PhD a plus);
2+ years of writing code in Java, and in at least one among Python, Perl, Ruby;
Experience in distributed processing of large data sets (Hadoop/Pig a plus);
Experience with Unix systems;
Experience with data visualization (a plus) and with Web applications (CSS/Javascript);
Experience in developing software solutions for complex design/implementation problems;
Familiarity with basic concepts of data mining and machine learning (a plus);
Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
