The UMass Amherst Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval (CIIR) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support our efforts, particularly in the areas of information retrieval, document analysis and natural language processing for scanned books. Experience in information retrieval techniques, natural language processing, document analysis and retrieval models is preferred. Experience with document image analysis and computer vision is a plus. The position will require extensive software development on large clusters and interaction with an external partner so previous experience with software development for large projects is needed. Some experience with supervision would be a plus. Applicants for the postdoc position should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related area and should show evidence of both research and software development skills. This position is grant-funded; appointment will be contingent upon continued funding.
