Think'11: Proposed Workshop on Web Applications

Dear ALL

Here is a Web Application workshop to be conducted in conjuction with Think 11.  Comments are welcome.
Please note there is an interesting offer for successful students 


The workshop would be on - how to create a web app. It would have three sessions :-

1. For beginners :-
   
       1. Introducing the server setup - WAMP server.
       2. Introducing VI editor for coding.
       3. Introduction about basic HTML, CSS & Javascript.
       4. Basic PHP functions overview & how to start with hello world.

2. For Intermediates :-
       1. Debugging a web-app. Use of Firebug to debug javascript, CSS. Use of dump statements for server side language. What various error mean like 404 etc.
       2. Introducing REST API & how to use them using CURL in PHP. Brief about Facebook & Twitter API. 
       3. Introducing Jquery & some basic commands & comparison with regular javascript.

3. For Advanced Users :-
       1. How web server space works. How to get server space & deploy your app.
       2. Introducing version control software - git & its usage.
       3. Introducing CMS - wordpress. Some wordpress tweaks, plugin & theme briefing. 
       4. Introducing MVC architecture & Ruby on Rails - the best technology to do web application development. (If time permits)

At the end of last workshop - a coding challenge would be conducted, where a web-application would be given to be designed. The fastest 3 guys would be given entry into Stalk Ninja.
